Why this role?

We are looking for someone with a proven track record in brand and communications strategy development. With experience in marketing, communications and PR, we’re looking for someone who can lead brand strategy development AND work with client teams to anchor their plans and activities around commercial priorities and rigorous strategy thinking.  Ideally we’re looking for someone who’s led or built a strategy practice area before and is now looking for the challenge of bringing robust thinking to marketing and communications within the technology sector.

Accountabilities include:

Delivering the end goal (Influence and implement the Hotwire Vision and Strategy)

  • Working closely with Global Head of Strategy shape this offering in the UK and influence local strategy to achieve overall UK growth objectives
  • Be an advocate for Hotwire in the industry, building not only Hotwire’s but also your own brand and reputation externally

Growing the Hotwire Business (Business Leadership)

  • Be the first point of contact for all Strategy pitches – ensure smooth processes for pitching and draw in the right resources from across the agency network to win
  • With the Head of Client Service, contribute to the UK business plan for Strategy development projects
  • Set clear performance standards and KPIs across account leads to ensure they are working towards the same goals, objectives and growth aspirations

Using our client engagement model to deliver the best experiences (Client Leadership)

  • Conduct situational analysis, and use this to define the client’s problem
  • Collate and distil trends and issues to articulate the important context for client strategy recommendations
  • Use existing and new research to create rich, distinctive and new ways to define the target audiences for communications
  • Use data to pinpoint, communicate and convince clients of the communications audiences
  • Find, distil and articulate the audience ‘hidden truth’ or insight that will form the backbone of the proposed strategy solution
  • Evaluate audience insights against client capabilities and competitor strengths, to evaluate which has most potential for the client
  • Design and direct strategic brand and marketing solutions for clients
  • Work with clients on driving brand strategy work with multiple stakeholders and C-level executives
  • Design and lead messaging workshops and brainstorms for clients with clear objectives and outcomes, including direction setting, brand identity, and top-line messages
  • Develop brand campaigns, including the design and planning of content for multiple channels and audiences
  • See brand strategy through to brand activations for clients, supporting client teams with planning and into execution
  • Develop strategic briefs, brand positioning and corporate narratives
  • Develop creative briefs to drive visual identity and creative work that is in line with brand strategy
  • Collaborate with research team and leverage quantitative and qualitative research to support strategic recommendations
  • Act as strategic counsel to clients and internal team as and when needed
  • Work with client teams to develop and agree key measurement KPIs, anchored to the preceding strategy definition
  • Work with client teams to build and run evaluation processes and sessions
  • Work with client teams to help crystallise new, important challenges for clients (to restart the process or drive organic growth opportunities)
  • Work at key moments to review, refine and recreate campaign strategy and plans, when required

Leading for high performance (People Leadership)

  • Recruit and build strategy development capabilities across the UK client teams
  • Coach direct reports, driving a culture that enables current, direct and “actionable” feedback to others
  • Drive behavioural changes across client teams to promote a high performance culture

You’ll Bring:

  • Experience of working with tech clients, both B2B and B2C
  • An understanding of how strategy maps to PR and social campaigns
  • Experience of working with third party research and analytic providers
  • A proven track record of leading, training and growing a team
  • Past success in implementing new processes, systems and methodologies within in agency setting
  • Knowledge gained working across different geographies
  • An extensive background in brand or communications strategy
  • Confidence in handling different client situations
  • Strong presentation and PowerPoint skills – an ability to articulate strategy verbally and visually
  • An imaginative and inquisitive nature
  • A creative mind-set
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Clear clarity of thought and single-mindedness
  • 10+ years’ experience
