Australian Government initiative to protect social media users released for public consultation

Tech and social media companies will be expected to protect their users from online harms such as bullying and cyber abuse under a new set of Basic Online Safety Expectations (BOSE) released for public consultation today by the Morrison Government. Following the passage in June of the tough new Online Safety Act 2021, Australians are now encouraged to have their say on the BOSE, which sets out a series of demands to big tech that reflect how the community expects to be kept safe online.

New DOOH industry resource from IAB Australia

Peak trade association for online advertising IAB Australia has released a ‘Buyer’s Guide’ for Digital out of Home (DOOH). It is a resource to help both traditional Out of Home (OOH) buyers and digital buyers navigate planning, trading, measuring and working with partners. The Guide explores the different buying methods, understanding the programmatic supply chain, verification, and audience and measurement.

Snap partners with Pedestrian TV, LadBible, Tastemade and more for Snapchat Discover

Snapchat’s parent company Snap has announced partnerships with various lifestyle programmers to bring shows to Snapchat Discover. Amongst the partners are Pedestrian TV, Ladbible Australia, Banijay, Little Dot Studios, Tastemade and Totem Network. Banijay, for example, will partner with Snapchat Discover to share Masterchef Australia content, the finale of which saw 931,000 metro viewers.
